Virginia's geography was very nice, for farming. In 1620 Virginia had forest almost everywhere! It also had flat rolling land.

Longitude is an inappropriate measure, tropical forests are constrained by latitude and geography not longitude.
Not too good at my geography but I'd say it comprises mostly of coniferous plants and trees.
A tropical savanna can have 120 cm average. A tropical forest can have 200+ cm average.
They don't. The rain clouds naturally come to the forests based on geography and meteorology. The clouds would come to the same location whether the forest was there or not.
