The word gospel literally means "good news" and occurs 93 times in The Bible, exclusively in the New Testament. In Greek, it is the word euaggelion, from which we get our English words evangelist, Evangel, and evangelical. The gospel is, broadly speaking, the whole of Scripture; more narrowly, the gospel is the good news concerning Christ and the way of salvation. Few days ago, one of my friend purchased Gospel Bible Tracts, from, gospeltracts.org who sharing the message of Christ with all people worldwide.

Meaning of the term 'gospel' is: 'good news'.
1) The term can refer to the 4 Bible accounts of Jesus' life, namely: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Those are the 4 gospels.
While the four are parallel and often cover the same incidents, they are by no means mere copies of one another. The first three Gospels are often called synoptic, meaning "like view," since they take a similar approach in recounting Jesus' life on earth. But each one of the four writers-Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John-tells his own story of the Christ. Each one has his own particular theme and objective, reflects his own personality, and keeps in mind his immediate readers. The more we search their writings, the more we appreciate the distinctive features of each and that these four inspired Bible books form independent, complementary, and harmonious accounts of the life of Jesus Christ.
2) The term in the Bible also refers to the SPECIFIC 'good news' about the arrival of the long-promised Messiah, namely the Son of God, Jesus.
Mankind needed good news due to the 'bad news' that our foreparents, Adam & Eve sold us into slavery of sin and the resulting consequence of death. Jehovah God gave the 'good news' right there in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3:15), that He would undo the damage done. That was the original 'good news'. It found it's fulfillment first in the birth of God's son on earth, to redeem us. Secondly, Christ did in fact follow-thru and gave his life, in order to redeem us (based on the principle of 'life for life'). Christ was resurrected; and became the king-designate of God's Kingdom.
3) Another specific 'good news' is that God's Kingdom by Christ is the agency which will accomplish God's original purpose for mankind, to live in Paradise on earth. Jehovah's Witnesses proclaim the additional 'good news' that God's Kingdom by Christ was actually established in the heavens in 1914; and that very shortly God's Kingdom will 'crush all these kingdoms' on earth. (Dan 2:44)

It is a Greek compound term. 'Proto' meaning 'first' and 'evangelion' meaning 'gospel'. In essence, it means 'first gospel'. The Protoevangelion is another term for the Book of James. The Protoevangelium refers to Genesis 3:15.
The phrase "gospel of Christ" appears eleven times in Paul's epistles (in the King James translation).
It means the gospel.
We do not know the real name of the author of Mark's Gospel, but because the second-century Church Fathers attributed the Gospel to the apostle Mark, we continue to refer to the author as Mark the evangelist.
In terms of Christianity it means proclaiming the Gospel message to those who are not Jews. This term was most relevant in the very early days of the Christian church, when most Christians were Jewish.
