MIT doesn't require a certain GPA to get in. Everything is based on your application as a whole and whether the admissions office feels you will fit in. Check out admissions.mit.edu It's a great site with everything from high school prep recommendations to blogs of current students and admissions people.

Since MIT is a very selective school a 4.0 is best, but it's not required. You probably won't get in with any thing less than a 3.8 though.
