It depends. Traditional Saxophone fingerings only take you to an F above the staff, though you can get saxophones with an additional key to allow for an F#. After that, using advanced altissimo techniques, you may find your range is unlimited. To hear some of the highest notes achievable, listen to players like James Carter, Joshua Redman, Eric Matienthal (Though it's rare to see him play tenor anymore), and Lenny Pickett.

The highest possible note on the saxophone is the high F#, which can be only played with the high F# key on only step-up saxes. However, this is not typically played. There are no written notes higher than this, but you can create your own "controlled squeaks" on your sax. (Which isn't the most pleasant sound in the world.)

Modern tenors are keyed to F#, an octave above the treble staff. Older saxes might go only to F.

In either case, special techniques can be used to play above the normal range in the altissimo - a very high register that extends to the next C or D above. The techniques involve the use of overtones, and should be attempted only by advanced players who have already mastered the keyed range of the sax. Altissimo playing can be very impressive, but it can also just be shrill noise. Many advanced players never use the altissimo.

There are no standard fingerings for the altissimo notes. They can differ from sax to sax. You can find many suggested fingerings by searching on "sax atissimo."

The highest note possible to finger is F, or F# if your instrument has the F# key (some don't).
