Outdoor pet rabbits should live as long as indoor rabbits and all pet rabbits. On average, pet rabbits live 8-10 years, but they can live longer (although, older than 13 is rare).

It can be dangerous to keep a rabbit outside. In most cases, it's better to keep a house rabbit (indoors). If you do keep your rabbit oustide, make sure you do your research and take precautions! See the related questions below for info and links.

Wild rabbits have a short lifespan because they have so many predators. Most wild rabbits die before the age of 4.

Other Info

They can live up to 10 years the average is 5-7.

Depends what breed it is.

As long as it gets it VHD and myxomatosis jag (shot), it's ok. Also its health and diet helps it live longer.

On one site it said that an average outdoor rabbit lives 2 years but in the booklet the pet shop owner gave me it said they live 5-8 years. I think I should believe the pet shop but my rabbit is a dwarf think that means it lives shorter.

Domestic rabbits live 4-8 years on average. The advantages inside rabbits have are reduced chance of catching diseases from biting insects, staying out of extreme weather and temperatures, etc. If you keep your rabbit's area clean and temperature appropriate (warm in the winter, cool in the summer), then it should live a happy, healthy life.

Wild rabbits, whom also live outside obviously, do not share the same good news as their domestic counterparts. Most wild rabbits do not live over 1 year old. Those who do manage to stay alive and die of old age (very rare) will live 3-5 years.

Different rabbit breeds have different life expectancies, and ofcourse any number is just an average. Rabbits should be expected to live for at least five years. They can live as long as 15 years. Medium and large sized rabbits tend to live longer than dwarf rabbits.
