It really depends on the kind of pine tree. The Ponderosa Pine is one of America's most abundant tree species, covering approximately 27 million acres in the western United States. The trees average 100 -160 feet in height, and range from 2 - 4 feet in diameter. Their average life span is about 125 years, but some of the larger trees may be 300 years old.

I'm not positive of the life span of pine trees in general. Yellow pines must be harvested for lumber before they reach 50 years old.
