It really depends on which specific genre of Drama you're referring to.
For instance the longest running Police Dramais Germany's Tatort which has been on the air since 1970 & still airs to this day (07/2015).
The longest running Medical Drama is the U.K.'s is Casualty which began in 1986 and still airs today (07/2015).
It would seem the longest running Historical Drama is Japan's Zenigata Heijiwhich (as far as I can tell) aired from 1952 to at least 09/2012.

The show originated with after school specials in 1979 w/ The Kids of Degrassi Streetwhich after specials in 1979, 1980, 1981 & 1982 became a series that aired until 1986, then morphed into Degrassi Junior High from 1987 to 1989 then Degrassi High from 1989 to 1991. The series was revived in 2001 w/ Degrassi the Next Generation which aired until 2015 then Degrassi the Next Class began in 2016.
