In this sacred fondo are found the five stars which represent the original central American countries. These are Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. The middle star, of course, represents Honduras. Honduras has one of the longest national anthems in the world, and with some of the most beautiful poetry among spanish speaking countries. The music of this anthem was made by a distinguished German and the lyrics by Augusto C. Coello.
