She told the Sultan stories, but did not complete them that night, but insisted on completing them the following day. She would then start another story and leave that unfinished.

Scheherazade is a legendary Persian queen who tells a series of stories to her husband, King Shahryar, to delay her execution. Each night she leaves the story unfinished, prompting the king to spare her life until he eventually falls in love with her and rescinds the order to have her killed. The story illustrates the power of storytelling and is a central element of the collection "One Thousand and One Nights."

She tells a story that doesn't have an ending to preserve her life. From an economic sense, we're all like her - we all have to keep working at what we do to prevent immediate doom. Even though death may be scary and inevitable, we all have control of our lives.

Scheherazade is the fictional narrator of the stories in the "Thousand Nights and a Night", more commonly known as the "Thousand and One Arabian Nights". To prevent her husband King Shahryar from executing her in the morning, Scheherazade would tell fabulous and fantastic tales and stories, stopping at the peak of the story when dawn would come; eager to hear the rest of the story, the King would spare her life until she finished the story the next night.

Her stories included Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Aladdin and the Lamp, and Sindbad the Sailor among a thousand others. The stories, compiled over centuries in Arabic, were translated by Sir Richard Burton into 17 volumes in English. They featured emirs, and kings, and paupers, and djinni (pronounced "genie"), monsters and treasures. Fragments of the stories have been used as the basic plots for hundreds of movies, thousands of novels, and countless Cartoons.
