It is difficult to answer this questions as the term "powerful" is ambiguous. Furthemore, many eastern civilizations have not been researched well enough and may have been mor…e "powerful" than originally assumed. However, in terms of military power, it is generally accepted that Ancient Rome reach a level of military tactics and proweness far greated than anything else at the time. It's military tradition is said to be partly based on Macedonian and Spartan military traditions originating in the Hellenic world. In terms of science, the civilization which has most contributed overall to modern science, engineering and medicine, is Ancient Greece. This should not undermine the amazing advancements of other civilizations such as Ancient China, Egypt, Phoenicians etc.
This depends on your definintion of civilization. There was Babylon, which was a mere city. The first true known nation was Egypt.
Agricultural areas, preferably near trade routes.
In the wet, Rome. In the east, China.
Oldest known is Lemuria. Lemuria is the oldest civilization in the world. According to various esoteric sources, civilization first appeared 78,000 years ago in the giant cont…inent known as Mu or Lemuria and lasted for an astonishing 52,000 years. It is sometimes said to be the oldest civilization has been destroyed in earthquakes generated by a pole shift which occurred some 26,000 years ago, or about 24,000 BC. Lemuria is the oldest civilization.
Ancient civilizations began by rivers and fertile lands. The first civilizations started in the Fertile Crescent, around the Nile river. This was known as the "Cradle of Civil…ization"
There is ample evidence of the presence of highly advanced beings found in the remnants of many ancient civilizations around the globe. The Great Pyramid on the Giza Plateau i…n Egypt is a prime example. It is the largest structure ever built on Earth, more perfectly aligned to true north than any building on the planet, it is located in the center of the Earth's land mass, and the curvature of its sides matches the curvature of the globe. It is level to within 1/2 an inch over 13 acres, it's height matches that of all the land mass on Earth, and it was built with perfectly cut stones; some weighing as much as modern locomotive. The ancient civilization that is credited with constructing it did not have the tools, equipment, technology, or the engineering and construction techniques to even clear and level the ground it sits upon. All contractors, architects, and engineers that have studied the Great Pyramid agree that such a feat would be impossible without conquering flight. A race of highly advanced beings that could fly and accomplish such a gargantuan feat, with absolute perfection would probably be considered alien. But this is not the only example of such amazing construction; they exist in thousands all over the globe. A simple way to begin research on this subject is to type the keywords "ancient structures" into any search engine and be prepared to be amazed. The above plays on the usual deficiencies in human reasoning and penchant for piecing something out of nothing. You can read absolutely anything on the internet and watch almost anything on tv; the world is filled with people with strange ideas. So is there evidence of ancient aliens? No, not anymore than there is evidence for anything else that didn't exist. The Egyptian pyramids are a commonly used example of these, but it's really no secret. We've found half-built pyramids, we know how they did it. Simple mechanics. Any one who says "all the experts say"... is just trying to gain credibility for their theory: experts absolutely do not agree that, for example, pyramids couldn't be built by humans. Don't believe everything you read.
The Ancient Hellenic (Greek) civilizations. They gave us the ideas of a republic and governance as well as learning and philosophy. They laid the foundations of modern science… and gave birth to modern maths, logic, and the concept of a mathematic proof. However the Greek civilization is said to have been greatly influenced in the beginning by Ancient Egypt. If we are looking at inventions many other civilizations have contributed such as Ancient China who gave us paper, gunpowder and many other. Mesopotamia gave us the wheel. It is difficult to say that one civilization was the most influential because most of them are interrelated. However it is generally accepted that Ancient Greece experienced a "Golden Age" during which extraordinary advancements where made in all the main aspects of modern civilization.
Rome is the most ancient civilization or China, or Egypt or Greece, or Persia, or Olmec, or Mesopotamia, or Inca, or Itruscan or Ottoman
Most ancient civilizations built their societies around rivers (ex: Tigris, Euphrates, Yellow, Nile). They did this because rivers are fresh water and supply water to drink as… well as for irrigation (agriculture). Food and water supplies are a must for a civilization!
It depends what important means. In terms of contributions to the modern world, Ancient Greece contributed to Medicine, Science, Art, Engineering and Philosophy and laid the f…oundations of the Renaissance. However, the Golden Age of Ancient Greece has roots in Ancient Egypt. Rome was an outstanding military force but it's contributions to Art and Science are disproportionate to that of Greece and it is generally considered to have stalled advancements in these areas by conquering the Hellenic world. However the Romans had a contribution in Engineering. The Arabs took over Greece in Mathematics and advanced algebra. It really depends what you consider important. Important in what field? In terms of science and technology I would have to go with Greece.
This answer depends on what successful means. If it means how long it lasted, then China is the most successful civilization following by the Byzantine empire. In terms of con…tributions to science, medicine, philosophy and the arts the Hellenic civilizations are the most successful. In terms of expansion, Rome, Mongol empire and more recently Britain were the most successful. I go with Greece cause I'm a science person.
Rome it was Mesopotamia for hundreds of years
In Ancient Rome
Greece. From the Gods to the slaves everything Greek was in demand and shaped Roman society.

There were two civilizations that influenced the ancient Romans, they were the Greek and the Etruscan. The Greeks gave the Romans a cultural stepping stone, but the Romans too…k the Greek things and made them uniquely Roman. For example, the differences in the theater buildings, or in the plays and poems. Although the Romans considered everything Greek either elite or effeminate, they still used Greek physicians and tutors and sent their young men to study in Greece. On the other hand, the Romans absorbed many aspects of the Etruscan culture. Examples of this is the Roman passion for chariot racing which was developed by the Etruscans, and the freedom that the Roman women enjoyed. Certain religious ceremonies could be traced back to the Etruscans. So its a toss up as to which people influenced Rome the most.
