In Italy...the scooter is by far the transportation of choice
but there are many other vehicles like trains, planes, and scooters but considering the fact Italy made Lamborghini there are many there and in Venice its boat or scooter
When I went to Italy in 2006 Smart cars were VERY common. It is very easy to find a taxi, and in Venice there is no cars, just gondolas, ferrys, bikes, and Vespas. They do have cars, but they seem to be focused on very fuel efficient cars.
I am not sure about this, I searched it and it seems that the most common form is bus transportation, but I really have no idea. Sorry.
