Maybe a mix with a labrador retriever?
Not really. Mixes aaren't popular due to unstable tempers and health problems. Stick to pedigrees.
no you cannot if you want it to be pure bred
The German Shepherd is actually a Mix-breed dog created by Max von Stephanitz in 1895
Yes the German shepherd black lab is a good mix. The German shepherd black lab mix is known as the German Sheprador.
A purebred can be up to 70cm at a push. Kind Shepherd's up to 90cm but they are a mix.

Because he is settling in.
He/She is probably a German shepherd mix. If you had ever noticed that German Shepherds vary in color and size from one to the other, and had gathered though research that these animals were bred with many types of shepherd dog, with a main cross being the wolf, you might agree that it stands to reason that if fact this dog may actually be a German Shepherd with a different heritage. From what you have said in the question I would say it's a German shepherd Akita mix. :)
Yes, if you want a strong dog.
