It is basically about segregation between whites and blacks.

It follows Tracey, who is a big girl, in her ambition to be a star on the Corney Collins show. She wants to change the way that people are discriminated against, and is the ringleader in trying to get whites and blacks to dance together.

Well there is more. She LOVES link Larkin who is the cutest boy in school. He dances on the Corney Collins show with Amber Vontussel who is his Girl friend. When Brenda a girl on the show moves there is a space for her to dance. She try's out and doesn't make it. When she gets detention she dances with the Blacks. Linkn sees her dancing and tells her to come down to the hop. when she dances Corney wants her on he show. No one else does though. There are a bunch of other problems too, Edna (the mom of Tracey's) has never been out of the house, Links falls in love with Tracey, and you'll never guess who wins the Miss Teenage Hairspray Pageant!

The first lines of Hairpsray start with Nikki Blonsky playing Tracy, starting Good Morning Baltimore with the first line, "Oh, oh, oh, woke up today, feeling as good as I always do." Type in the word Hairspray and see as many answers from saviomichael as you can. Now here's my slogan... "He's saviomichael, and he wants you to do something, yeah!" One of the main messages in this movie is equality and treating everyone, no matter what size, skin color, or looks, with respect. It's set in the 60s so it shows a lot of the racial inequality/injustice. Tracy tries to defy that by racially integrating The Corny Collins Show.

It also has the message of following your dreams and ambitions because Tracy had a passion to dance, but her weight held her back.

Hope this helped!
