There isn't a tenth planet in the Solar System.

There are 8 planets in the Solar System:

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars
  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune

In addition to the 8 planets, there are 5 dwarf planets:

  1. Ceres
  2. Pluto
  3. Haumea
  4. Makemake
  5. Eris

Pluto and Ceres were once counted among the planets. Ceres became an asteroid, and was later reclassified as a dwarf planet; Pluto was a planet and was then reclassified as a dwarf planet.

Though the dwarf planets meet 2 of the 3 requirements to be a planet, they do not qualify according to the IAU definition and hence, they are not counted among the planets.

An object that is inaccurately called the 10th planet is 90377 Sedna. Sedna is a trans-Neptunian object and a likely dwarf planet discovered by Michael Brown (Caltech), Chad Trujillo (Gemini Observatory) and David Rabinowitz (Yale University) on November 14, 2003. It is currently 88 AU from the Sun, about three times as distant as Neptune.
old Mayan story and no body would believe it. As people said the end of the world will be in 2000, and nothing happend, again the stupid Mayan said the end of the world will be in 2012........ The question here is how did they know?....... do you have an answer?....no you don't, because now with everything we have and we don't know if that is true or not

Well yes, but technically no. Why? The answer is, because Pluto is no longer classified as a planet, it is now officially considered a Dwarf Planet. The tenth "planet" (also a Dwarf Planet) is part of the Kuiper belt. So we actually have only eight known planets in our solar system right now, with several dwarf planets, incuding Pluto and Sedna (which is how a count of ten came to be).

Additional Note:
This tenth celestial body, Sedna, has an orbit that takes roughly 10,000 years to orbit the sun. If you held a pin at arm's length toward the sun from Sedna, just the pin's head would block out the entire sun! Temperatures at daytime do not go above the freezing point. And at night it drops to -400 degrees!
Tenth? There isn't even a ninth. There are eight major planets, and several minor planets. There are people who contest the definition of planet by the IAU (International Astronomical Union). It is this definition that recognizes eight planets.
Most know the 10th planet to be Ceres, a dwarf planet like Pluto, but there have always been disagreements and contradictions. Some think it to be a different planet.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) debated vigorously the definition of a planet and agreed at their General Assembly Meeting in Prague in 2006 that it would mean "a celestial body that (1) is on orbit around the Sun; (2) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid bidy forces so that is assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (i.e. nearly round) shape, and (3) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. This now means there are eight Planets (i.e. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune), and a new distinct class of objects that are called Dwarf Planets, of which there are three in our Solar System (i.e. Ceres which is found between Mars and Jupiter, Pluto and the Eris/2003UB313 which is further out than Pluto). So the current state of the Solar System is we have 8 Planets and 3 Dwarf Planets.

there is a 10th planet. but they haven't officialy named it or discovered it.
There are only 8 planets in the Solar System, along with 5 dwarf planets, and numerous other trans-Neptunian bodies.

Probably.

Right now we have only discovered 8 planets and uncountable dwarf planets in our solar system. It is possible that there is a 9th, 10th and 11th planet that we haven't yet discovered due to current technological restrictions. Dwarf planets are not "proper" planets.

The planets and dwarves, in order are:

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars

    --- Ceres (dwarf)

  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune

    --- Pluto (dwarf)

    --- Haumea (dwarf)

    --- Makemake (dwarf)

    --- Eris (dwarf)

    --- Sedna (dwarf)

There are many more dwarf planets which are waiting classification. For it to be a planet, it must be large and orbiting the sun. A dwarf planet needs to be small and orbiting the sun. Something that orbits another planet instead of the sun is a moon.

There is no tenth planet. There are only 8 planets in our solar system:

  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune

Beyond Neptune are dwarf planets - these are not actual planets.

After Neptune we have discovered two dwarf planets - Pluto and Eris.
