American Indian tribes number in the hundreds. Each of those tribes has their own beliefs. The animal world always played an important part in their belief system. The raven played a different role and had a different meaning to each different tribal system.

Any symbol can mean different things to different cultures. The was no one "Native American" culture. There were over 500 languages and as many different cultures annd belief systems.

For some groups of people in the Pacific Northwest Ravens were a trickster creator figure.

In other clutures raven does not have this role.

The Navajo feel you should never handle Raven feathers ( or many other feathers) or you will get boils.
