The worlds oldest tree is... A Bristlecone pine tree found in California, and it is 4,600 years old. . The title for the world's oldest tree could go to several trees. One of the contenders is believed to be a Palmer's oak ( Quercus palmeri ) in California, estimated at around 13,000 years old.
There is some confusion and controversy regarding this question. The collection of Sanskrit Hymns which form the Hindu religious text Rig-Veda describes astronomical occurrences with a very high degree of accuracy that have been dated earlier than 4000BC(Playfair, 1790). This could only have been …possible if the chroniclers of these texts had physically observed those events since the ability to retroactively calculate those events required the knowledge of Newtonian mechanics which was unknown till the late medieval period and there is no doubt that the written form of the RigVeda predates Issac Newton by at least 2000 years. Unfortunately, Indologist Max Mueller, out of a desire to date the RigVeda at a later period than early Biblical events, fixed the date without explanation at 1200 BC based on sparse evidence of linguistic evolution and this has been taken by subsequent historians as truth without further investigation. It's another question altogether whether at all the subject of linguistic evolution can be relied upon to reliably date the civilizations, what may be true for one language might be completely different for another. In fact, a reasonably motivated person can twist the dating to suit his own ideas, as Max Mueller seems to have managed. The other contender for this is The Epic of Gilgamesh which is an epic poem recorded on 12 clay tablets from Ancient Mesopotamia (Current day Iraq). The earliest versions of the Epic date as early as 2150-2000 BC but the current versions are thought to have been edited to its final and current form by 1600 BC. To answer your question, unless someone manages to refute the astronomical dating of the Rig Veda(no one has managed it so far), it is by far the oldest book in human history. Otherwise, it is the Epic of Gilgamesh. The Oldest book is the Diamond Sutra in the dinasty of T'ang of China... . (MORE)
The oldest date of composition (when the book was first written) and the date of the oldest surviving copy are two different questions. Oldest date of composition. The Egyptian Pyramid texts are the oldest known religious texts in the world. However, they are not "books" per se, but prayers or …poetic hymns composed for the pharoah. They are dated at 2400-2300 BCE. The oldest well-known "book" (a narrative story) is probably the Epic of Gilgamesh, first composed circa 2150-2000 BCE, but revised, retold, and abridged in later centuries. Of the 4 primary Vedas, the Rig-veda is the oldest, and was first committed to writing around 1500 BCE. The biblical books of Moses, the first 5 books from the Hebrew Bible, would have been composed circa 1400 or 1200 BCE (depending on the date of the Exodus, and allowing Moses as the main author). The New Testament documents were probably composed around 50-70 CE, though some scholars would date them as late as 90 CE. Oldest surviving book. The "Pyramid texts" survive as inscriptions on the walls of pyramids and sarcophagi of pharaohs from the 5th and 6th dynasty, who lived circa 2400-2300 BCE. The oldest copy of the Epic of Gilgamesh are 12 clay tablets found in the library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh. The tablets were inscribed circa 800-700 BCE, representing a version of the Epic from 1300-1000 BCE. The oldest manuscripts of the Rig-veda known to exist date from the 11th century CE. The oldest complete manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible, containing all the canonical texts, are dated at the 9th-10th century CE, although individual books of the Bible (and fragments) were found among the Dead Sea Scolls at Qumran, generally dated around 100 BCE. The earliest New Testament manuscripts date at 350 CE, though small fragments have been found as early as 125-150 CE. (MORE)

Discarding disposable advertising geeks like (Buster Brown c,l904) literally in shoe-box giveaways, the oldest continuing action comic BOOK as opposed to strip, would probbaly be Superman. The Man of Steel commenced operations in l938. Strips are, of course older, the roots of Little Orphan Annie da…te to a Poem written by the popular poet (and magazine contributor, adding llght touches to the official guide to the Railroads, otherwise dull but useful timetables and mileage charts) James Whitcomb Riley. Riley crearted (Little Orphan Annie) and inspired the comic strip He also cooked up , I believe (Riley songs O "Bliss) anmd made extensive use of the Hoosier or Indiana dialect. Some newspapers stand above the battle ground and stalwartly refuse to run comic strips- for example the New York Times , but there were occasional nonserial humor cartoons (One page panels) in the magazine section that were not strictly speaking comic strips. Liie evolution a difficult ore to prospect, let alone mine. Most present day- from the fifties to date newspaper comic strips are syndicated. Many scholars agree that Job is the oldest book in the Bible, written around 1500 B.C. Others hold that the Pentateuch (the firstfive books of the Bible) are the oldest books in the Bible, writtenbetween 1446 and 1406 B.C. While some modern and recent thoughts and suppositions question thetraditional… authorship of the Pentateuch. However, the NewTestament is full of references to the writings of Moses by Jesushimself and the Apostle Paul. For example Jesus said, "And astouching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the bookof Moses , how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God ofJacob?" Mark 12:26 (KJV). Therefore, either Jesus and theApostle Paul were wrong and not smart enough to know who wrote thePentateuch or the modern teachers who say Moses did not write itare wrong. It is certainly possible that finishing touches wereadded later by other authors to books such as Deuteronomy but themain author of the entire Pentateuch is Moses according to theBible itself as well as tradition and Jewish history. It is alsonotable that the Talmud, a central text in mainstream Judaism, gives credit to Moses for authoring the book of Job. Many if notmost traditional scholars believe that Job was most likely writtenprior to the Pentateuch, but most also acknowledge that this is nota known fact and it could have been written around the same time asthe Pentatuech, before or after. A: The Bible is far from the oldest book ever written. Tradition suggests that the first five books were written by Moses, who can be dated from the biblical record to around 1440 BCE, although problems with this date cause others to suggest 1312 or 1250 BCE. However, biblical scholars say these b…ooks were not really written by Moses, who does not seem to be historical, but were written over a period of several centuries between 900 and 500 BCE. Egyptian and Mesopotamian writings are far older. (MORE)

There is uncertainty about the date of the Book of Job, but it is not considered, in its final form, the oldest book in the Old Testament. A date in the Persian period (fifth or fourth century BCE) is most favoured, but such estimates are always made with hesitation. The chief reasons usually give…n for a post-exilic date are the speculative nature of the book's theology, especially compared with the older parts of the Book of Proverbs, and the acquaintance of the author with other Old Testament writings such as Isaiah 40-55. The presence of Satan as a member of God's heavenly court is also usually taken to be an indication that at least in its present form the story is post-exilic, since the only other references to Satan in the Old Testament (Zechariah 3:1 and 1 Chronicles 21:1) are certainly post-exilic. Some scholars do see parts of Job as much more ancient, whether derived from older written or oral sources. The fragments of a creation story in chapters 38-41 are clearly very ancient. Possible references in chapter 37 to Yahweh as a storm God seem ancient. Some say chapters 1-6 were written in more or less its present form long before the book was completed. (MORE)
A: New Testament scholars are generally agreed that Mark is the oldest of the four New Testament gospels, written around 70 CE. This view is supported by evidence that the other gospels are based, directly ( Matthew, Luke ) or indirectly ( John ) on Mark . The Epistles of Paul would be older th…an the four gospels, although scholars do not believe that all the epistles attributed to Paul were actually written by him or even in his lifetime. The earliest of Paul's epistles could be 1 Thessalonians, which is possibly the oldest book in the New Testament. Perhaps even older than the Pauline epistles is the Epistle to the Hebrews. Some scholars believe that Hebrews could be the oldest book in the New Testament, because they say that the view of Christianity in Hebrews is more primitive than in other books of the New Testament. The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from Ancient Mesopotamia and is the earliest known work of literary fiction.. Although the Epic of Gilgamesh is old, I do not believe it to be the oldest. I believe that the book of Job in the Bible is the oldest, dating back to the time of possibly even Abraha…m or Noah. For a fact, it even describes some dinosaurs in later chapters. Job thoroughly describes a "leviathan", which almost perfectly matches our current description of a pleciosaurus. He also describes a large animal with "a tail as large as a cedar", along with other things that makes it match up perfectly with bronchiosaurus. (MORE)
A: Traditional belief is that the first five books of the Bible are equally old, having been written by Moses about 3400 years ago. Biblical scholars say that the Book of Deuteronomy is the oldest book in more or less the form we have today. It was written during the reign of King Josiah of Judah,… in the seventh century BCE. It would therefore be almost 2700 years old. The Book of Genesis evolved through stages, with multiple authors and editors, and even before the seventh century BCE there would have been a somewhat recognisable early version of the Book of Genesis, without the contributions of the Priestly Source and the changes subsequently implemented by the Redactor. The Book of Deuteronomy is believed to be the Book of Law that was said to have been found in the Temple during the reign of King Josiah - around 622 BCE. Many scholars believe that the book was actually written at this time, but placed in the Temple, to be found, so as to lend antiquity to it. The …author of Deuteronomy , now known as the Deuteronomist, also put together material from the ninth and eighth centuries BCE, to form the earliest version of the Book of Genesis. However, scholars say that Genesis did not reach its present form until redaction in the sixth century BCE. Other books of the Old Testament were written even later, while the New Testament was written during the first and second centuries CE. Compared to this, some of the writings of the ancient Egyptians, Hittites and Assyrians are many centuries older. (MORE)

OLDEST BOOK PRINTED IN THE PHILIPPINES PRESENTED AT LIBRARY OF CONGRESS By Philippine Embassy. Philippine Embassy News Release 11 June 2009 OLDEST BOOK PRINTED IN THE PHILIPPINES PRESENTED AT LIBRARY OF CONGRESS 09 JUNE 2009 WASHINGTON DC - Mr. Daniel De Simone, curator of the Rosenwald Collectio…n of the Library of Congress' presents the Doctrina Christiana Asian Reading Room following a lecture on the significance of the book and its history. In his lecture, Filipino librarian and Phd candidate at the University of Toronto Von Totanes posited that Doctrina Christiana, printed in 1593 "is actually one of two published during that year in the archipelago." Totanes argued that the importance of the imprints "lies in the fact that they are physical reminders of the plurality of the nature and culture of the Filipino and the Philippines, and that Filipino culture is what it is today because of contact with the Chinese, the Spanish and the Americans." The lecture was co-sponsored by the Embassy of the Philippines, Library of Congress Asian Division Friends Society and the Library of Congress Asian American Association and is part of a month-long series of activities held to commemorate the 111th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
