last year the average composite test score was a 21 (21.1)You will receive ACT Scores in each of the four tests (english, mathematics, reading and science) as well as a composite score. The ACT Scores will range from 1 to 36 and the ACT Composite score will be an average of the four subject area tests. A 20 or 21 on the composite score is considered "average" since the fall near the 50th percentile. More detailed information can be found in the tables at test-guide.com

Acts scores vary for different colleges. For community college, you are accepted no matter what. Apart from prior misconceptions about community college, community college is really a great starting place with smaller classrooms, that means the professors can focus more on your individual needs. So don't worry, even if you do not get a great score, you can still go to Community College. For a regular university, Acts scores are usually 17 and up.(Highest is 36) For prestigious colleges, such as Harvard and Yale, 27 and up. If you don't get a good Act score you can always start at community, and then transfer to the University of your dreams!! Good Luck!!

There is no passing score for the ACT.

However, as a benchmark, you can say a score between 20 and 23 is average (comparable to a passing score).

There is no 'pass/fail' aspect to the ACT. It is graded on a scale of 1-36. The standards of the colleges to which a person plans to apply typically determine one's acceptable score range.

If you are looking at an actual university they normally have a sliding scale. The better you do in class, the lower your sat or act scores can be and still get in.
