I've seen estimates ranging from like 130,000 to 310,000.. The differences may be due to poor estimates or the difficultly of making estimates, since the last census was in 2…002. It may be due to what exactly is Georgetown (where does it end?), since some may stop their count at the city limits, whilst others may look to the Greater Georgetown area. Dispite all the obsure information that can be found on the offical Guyan census site (http://www.statisticsguyana.gov.gy), I cannot seem to find a simple population count by city. I'm wondering the same thing, here is what I've found so far:. http://www.tageo.com/index-e-gy-cities-GY.htm (229.6K). http://www.citypopulation.de/Guyana.html (137.5K). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgetown,_Guyana (310K). http://www.tripwolf.com/en/guide/show/10484/Guyana/Georgetown (215K). http://www.guyanaguide.com/georgetown.htm (250K). http://www.answers.com/topic/georgetown-guyana (235K)

That about two-thirds (2/3) descend from Asian immigrants and that the cultural background and the linguistic make-up of the majority cannot be considered Latin American a…re two unique characteristics of the populations of Suriname and Guyana. Specifically, the strongest colonial influence is British in terms of Guyana and Dutch in terms of Suriname. Despite pockets of Portuguese- and Spanish-speakers along the borders, the official languages therefore are English in Guyana and Dutch in Suriname. Additionally, Asian influences are atypically strong in both countries. During the colonial history of both northern South American countries, Asian immigration was encouraged, largely from India but also especially from Indonesia.
