it is called evolution, and happens over hundreds of years, camels have thick eyelids to keep their eyes safe in sandstorms, this was Charles Darwins theory.

That's half of it. You forgot the other MORE important half. Natural Selection. The whole process has very little to do with a camel's eyelids.
