For one, they get to make most of the big decisions, such as how the film is going to be shot. He or she also gets to use their imagination and have the film be the way they want it to be. Of course, the director will discuss the film with the cast and crew as its being shot and take suggestions from them on changes that can be made for the movies' benefit.
