A transformer changes the electricity from one voltage to another, which allows a high voltage power line to be converted down to a voltage suitable for home usage.
Power Systems or Transmission & Distribution
To improve the power factor
To supply the reactive power demand of load and to regulate of output volage at the grid
If both the voltages do not match then there will be current fllow from higher voltage to low voltge, this is loss of power and can lead to even tripping of the system.
Assuming the generator is in good condition and designed to be connected to a power grid. A generator can be connected by ensuring the generator is at very nearly the same speed as the grid (typically very slightly faster) and is generating a similar voltage. When the phases of the generator and grid align, the circuit breakers can be closed and the generator will become locked to the grid. If the generator is connected to the grid without being in phase, the difference in phase will allow significant current to flow and in some situations can actually be worse than a direct short circuit. As a result of this power companies use sophisticated equipment to ensure that generators can be safely connected to the grid without damage. Household, camping and most industrial generators are not designed to be synchronised with the grid and should not be connected to a grid system.
Power Systems or Transmission & Distribution
The North American national grid does not make the electricity. The grid is a distribution system that transports power throughout the system to homes that are connected to it. The power for the grid is produced elsewhere at generating stations that feed into the grid.
National grid is nothing but a net work (power system) of many different generation points across a region / country to feed to different end user points.
Ireland has an isolated power grid, so does Great Britain.
a grid is aa pattern of regularly spaced horizontal and vertical linespower system: a system of high tension cables by which electrical power is distributed throughout a regionso basically it is used to view information more easily and more organized!
In an electrical power transmission system: the grid is what the feeder feed into.
To improve the power factor
The power grid system is the Electrical utility distribution system which provides power to the consumer (end user.) Beginning at the Power Generation Plant , continuing on thru the transmission lines and to the substation and local distribution network, finally to the individual consumer. Power grids are smaller distinct sections of this system which together make up the entire distribution network.
Depending on the system the excess can either be stored in batteries or depending on the country sold back into the "grid" if the producer is "on the grid"

power grid is an interconnected system of electrical cable and electrical equipments to transmit electrical power from plant to load centers!
Power is distributed through what is called the grid. The grid is a system of transmissions lines that all major power sources are connected to. This allows us to send power throughout the USA. The downside is that this grid is terribly power hungry. It consumes tons of power that we could save if power was generated locally.
