The number present.
Megapixel means one million pixel in a image.
A pixel is one dot in the image. A 10 megapixel camera will have 10 million pixels that make up the image.
Mega is a measurement of million. Kilo is a measurement of Thousand. Technically, it's 1024 multiples, not 1000. Pixel = 1 Kilopixel = 1,024 Megapixel = 1,048,576 Gigapixel = 1,073,741,824
1,048,576 pixels
1 million mega pixel
Image processing involves various operations on images. An image is a collection of pixels. Each pixel has its position and resolution.
A pixel is merely a picture element. It has no specific dimension, it is the count of the number of Picture Elements (PixEl) on an optical screen or a sensor. In very early CCD devices, these only had a handful, but today 10 Megapixel and above is common. So it has no relationship to feet or distance.
Megapixel is like megabite. Megabite has 1 000 000 bytes so megapixel has 1000 000 pixels. Mega refers to 10^6
I have the 4a and it does most things that the other pixels do but with a single 12.2 megapixel main camera and an 8 megapixel selfie camera. Those are things if your interest is Photography like me. If you like the software then the Pixel 4a has a robocall screener, core Google services, stock android and much more. Hope this was helpful! 🙂

the 14mp camera has 1.4 times better quality than the 10mp one
That will vary based on what the image is of, what the file type is, how it's compressed, etc. A typical 1 MB image will be at least 1 megapixel.
