Dublin people have a strong relationship with their environment. While Dublin is the largest city in Ireland, it is not big by international standards. It does not take long for people to get to the countryside from the city. You can actually see mountains from many parts of the city, including its main street, O'Connell Street, which is in the centre of the city. Dublin is also a coastal city and people enjoy activities on the coast, like walking along the coast, swimming, sailing etc. Most people in Dublin have gardens. There is also a lot of green space in the city and the suburbs. Generally they are kept quite well. Like any major city it does have litter problems and pollution problems but for the most part people are positive about their environment in Dublin and look after it. A lot of people who live in Dublin are from rural areas or are related to people from rural areas, so they have a strong connection to their environment in that way. Recycling is at a good level now in Dublin, with many households having several bins for different kind of waste, like regular waste, organic waste and recyclable waste.
