This can vary greatly by locale. Many states have supplemental pay for some officers, and cities as a whole pay more than rural areas. In some jurisdictions, officers work a considerable amount of overtime, and in others they complement their salaries with private assignments known as "details" where they function as security personnel.

In the US - There is no way of answering this question with a specific figure. Salaries vary widely according to the area of the country and the prevailing wages paid there. Sworn law enforcement officers are paid by the local agencies that employ them. The salaries and various pay scales are public record and in addition their usually is a longevity provision built-in to their salary as well. The salary for police officers will vary by where they work and whether they are state or local officers. It also increases the longer they have been on the job. A starting salary for police offices is typically about $27,000 to $35,000. Officers that have been on the job for a number of years, especially those who work in large cities, get paid as much as $60,000 or more per year.

In the United States, officers for police officers vary from city to city and also vary from US State to another. I'll consider the term police officer to mean police in uniform. One example of a high paying US State is New York. New York State Troopers can easily earn $100,000 or more per year. When overtime is added in, well the salaries can get very high.

I really depends on the state, city and country. Some start out as low as $9.00 an hour to $60,000 a year (US).

Other countries the salary can be as low as 300 - 400$ per month.
