The only "odor" comes from the unwashed Yahoo who's lost in the swamp for a couple of days. The following are what cause a "skunk ape" sighting: too much alcohol, not enough sleep, and the fear of any sound or shadow. As one who grew up hunting, fishing, and poaching 'gators in many parts of the Florida Everglades, I've seen panthers, bears, and every other critter that lives in the swamp, but no "skunk ape". No one in my extended family has ever seen one. Swamp men, timber cruisers, wildlife officers, botanists, and zoologists, i.e., people who spend a great deal of time in wilderness areas, have not seen a "skunk ape" simply because no such creature exists. And never forget, if some huckster can make a buck off some gullible rube, he'll do it.
