Specifically, the 'spirit' is the sub-consciousness with the 'soul' being the consciousness. We interact with each other via the soul - and the soul can change while the spirit never does.

It could be an alcoholic drink or a persons soul, from when they have passed away and the soul has left their body and still carries on living, but some of us cannot see them unfortunately.

Answer:

Spirit is power or energy that's invisible to the human eye. It comes in different forms.

Generally speaking, the different forms of spirit are discernible by witnessing what it does... like, "gravity" and the other spiritual "laws of nature."

Light is spirit. Sound waves are spirit.

The Bible says that the Ten Commandments are "spiritual laws": "...we know that the law is spiritual..." (Rom.7:14).

The Bible also speaks of a "spirit in man," which is revealed to be "man's intellect"... his "mind."

"...be renewed in the SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND..." (Eph.4:23).

"...God gave them over to a reprobate mind..." (Rom.1:28).

"...I see another law in my members (of my body), warring against the law of my mind..." (Rom.7:23).

"...with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin..." (Rom.7:25).

The human mind thinks with "words." Words are spirit. Although you can see them in print... it's their affect within a mind that produces different results. People do things resulting from the affects of the spiritual words they are thinking.

The Bible also says that angels are "spirits."

"...are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Heb.1:14) Spirit beings that are invisible to the human eye.

Wind is spirit.

"...the wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." (John 3:8 NIV)

The Spirit of God is His Power by which He is working out His plan of salvation and the restoration of His Kingdom to the earth that Satan perverted and destroyed in the beginning. By the Power of the Spirit of God, Jesus created the universe in the beginning... and then, recreated the destroyed earth, following Satan's rebellion in Genesis 1, and prepared it to receive His special creation, man.

"...and the earth was (or, became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon (or, came upon) the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." (Gen.1:2)

It's from the Bible (God's Truth - John 17:17) where we can know about invisible spirit, because that which is invisible to us isn't otherwise easily discernible... and only conjecture. God says:

"...I tell you the Truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have told you of earthly things and you do not believe; HOW THEN WILL YOU BELIEVE IF I SPEAK OF HEAVENLY THINGS?" (John 3:11-12)

God created spirit, so only He knows what it is. Therefore, He is the only True source of spiritual understanding. Perfect understanding of what spirit is will be made clear to us in time. But for now, all we can do is imagine in our own minds what spirit might be... or believe the One who testifies to what He has seen.

Moreover... to what He has made.

In general terms, the entity that is called the spirit is also referred to as the soul. A body is considered to be alive whenever this spirit/soul is present and the body is considered to be dead whenever this life giving entity is no longer present.

There are no such things as a "spirit". In the Bible, God says that there are only demons, who POSE as spirits and people you know. They are purposely trying to trick people, and demons know everything and are very smart, so they do this job very nicely. Don't be fooled.

-it depends on what you believe in actually. because i don't believe in the bible and all that stuff im native American and i believe that spirts are left over energy that's still trapped on the earth. people can believe in whatever they want that's just what i believe

Spirit may either refer to the soul or essence of a person, which may be displayed in their character and metaphorical heart, or to a holy or unholy entity. Sometimes it is used to refer to a ghost or negative energy that interacts with the natural world. In Christ-centered religions/relationships it may also refer to the three members of the Godhead, or simply one of the three: the Holy Spirit. Hope this helps you out. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
