Assuming that the tablet stregths are the same...there's nothing really different between the 2. They both contain the exact same drug (hydrocodone), they are just manufactured by 2 difference company, making them look a little different (shape/size/color/etc.
Occasionally the binders & fillers (zero actual medicine) are a little different, but that shouldn't have any major effects seen by the patient.

Most likely the medications are Vicodin ES (7.5/750) and Lortab (7.5/500). The first number (7.5) indicates the dose of hydrocodone, an opioid narcotic, the second number (750 or 500) is the dose of acetaminophen, often written 'APAP'. 7.5/750 is a higher dose than 7.5/500, however it is unlikely that the Vicodin ES would be any more effective than the Lortab since the dose of hydrocodone, which provides the vast majority of the analgesia, is the same.
