They are listed in the Red Book at $28,000 in grade FINE, and over $100,000 in uncirculated condition. However, the coin would need to be certified (preferrably by PCGS or NGC) to verify its authenticity -- I'm sure there are a lot of modern copies out there that are worth a couple dollars or less.

Anywhere from $3.00 - $250 US dollars. Depending on the condition and minting. :) Hope this helps! Get it appraised at a local coin shop or at a historical society. A pawnbroker or jeweler won't be able to assess it as acurately. The 1859 large cent was issued by the province of Canada, there are many variations of this coin, 1 is a medal, 1 is coinage, and it depends if it is either bronze or brass, and if it has minting errors, the price range in very good condition (VG-8) is from $5- $4000, a brass 1859 coin with a narrow #9 in 1859 can fetch 4000 and higher, this info comes from, a Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins, it lists 6 different variations of this coin, I also need to find out how to tell if one is bronze or brass

There were so many of these made that they are virtually worth their silver content only.

Although if your coin has exceptional eye appeal than it will be worth a bit more. Same rules apply to the grade of the coin. Higher grade = higher price.

In mint uncirculated condition, it would be worth $40-60.

In normal used condition, it's worth exactly $10.

Canada didn't mint any coins in 1849. You may have a fantasy piece, a replica, or a bullion coin commemorating that year.

What is the value of a 1903 silver penny?

Your coin is almost certainly plated for use in jewelry or something similar, which means it's an altered coin with no value to collectors. The US has never made silver cents. For one thing, cents are larger than dimes so a silver penny would have been worth more around 15 cents at the time!
