For starters, what do you think the chances are that a British coin would have a picture of America's Miss Liberty? The image is actually that of the goddess Britannia. Second, the inscription is heavily abbreviated Latin and appears on all British Coins (sort of like the way all of ours say In God We Trust and E Pluribus Unum) so that doesn't help to ID it either.

Based on the date, I can at least say there are 2 varieties of penny that were struck that year.

The more common variety has a spacing of about 1mm between the "P" in PENNY and the tip of the trident (the 3-pointed spear Britannia is holding). These are worth about $2 in average condition, maybe $4 or so if only a little wear shows.

The less common variety has a spacing of about 2mm between the "P" in PENNY and the tip of the trident These are worth about $5 in average condition, maybe $35 if only a little wear shows.

As far as 1898 British gold coins are concerned, there are only two possibilities, a Sovereign or a Half-Sovereign. The coins are near identical except for size.

A Half-Sovereign is 19.3 mm in diameter.

A Sovereign 22.05 mm in diameter.

A British 1898 22 carat gold Sovereign (Victoria)(minted in London - no mintmark), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £200 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, bullion value.

A British 1898 22 carat gold Sovereign (Victoria)(minted in Melbourne - mintmark = M), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £185 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, bullion value.

A British 1898 22 carat gold Sovereign (Victoria)(minted in Sydney - mintmark = S), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £325 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch anything from bullion value to £190 GBP.

A British 1898 22 carat gold Half-Sovereign (Victoria)(minted in London - no mintmark), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £110 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch up to £80 GBP.

The values quoted are the best possible for the best specimens in their grades, but may be significantly lower due to varying demand for the coin and the prevailing economic climate. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.

As far as 1893 British gold coins are concerned, there are four possibilities, a Five Pound, Two Pound, Sovereign or a Half-Sovereign. The coins are near identical except for size. All have the "old veiled" bust of Queen Victoria on the obverse and St George and the dragon on the reverse.

A Half-Sovereign is 19.3 mm in diameter.

A Sovereign is 22.05 mm in diameter.

A Two Pound (Double Sovereign) is 28.4 mm in diameter.

A Five Pound (Quintuple Sovereign) is 36 mm in diameter.

The Sovereigns and Half-Sovereigns minted in the first half of 1893 will have the "Jubilee" bust of Queen Victoria on the obverse. The Sovereigns have St George and the dragon on the reverse, the Half-Sovereigns have a crowned shield on the reverse.

The inscriptions on the earlier 1893 coins will be different from the inscriptions on the later 1893 coins.

You are asking about a One Penny coin from Great Britain (KM#790). The coin is bronze and slightly larger than the size of a US half dollar. The front has an image of Queen Victoria and the words "VICTORIA DEI - GRA - BRITT - REGINA - FID - DEF - IND - IMP -" (abbreviated Latin for "Victoria, by the Grace of God, Queen of Britain, Defender of the Faith, and Empress of India"). The back has an image of a woman seated holding a trident with a shield in front of her (meant to represent Britannia, the symbol of Great Britain), the words "ONE PENNY" above, and the date below. The Penny, by the way, is equal to one twelfth of a Shilling (or 1/240 of a Pound) under the old £sd system of money. 31,778,000 such coins were produced in 1900. According to the Standard Catalog of World Coins, an example is worth US$1.00 in Fine condition, US$3.00 in Very Fine condition, US$13.00 in Extremely Fine condition, and US$60.00 in Uncirculated condition.

No 1892 British gold coin has that inscription. The legend would appear as "VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:" on a Sovereign or as "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID DEF" on a Half-Sovereign .

As far as 1892 British gold coins are concerned, there are two possibilities, a Sovereign or a Half-Sovereign.

A Half-Sovereign is 19.3 mm in diameter and has a crowned shield on the reverse.

A Sovereign 22.05 mm in diameter and has a St George and the Dragon on the reverse.

Each has a number of variants.

ALL British coins struck during her reign carry that motto so it's not an identifying marker. Please post a new question with the coin's denomination and condition.

A late Victorian Penny is worth about 50 cents or so to a few bucks if circulated and you can identify an unusual die variety. If uncirculated it can be worth about $5-10 or so.
