Leap-The-Dips is the world's oldest operating wooden roller coaster and North America's last surviving side friction roller coaster. It is located at Lakemont Park in Altoona, Pennsylvania and was built in 1902 by the E. Joy Morris Company. Leap-the-Dips operated until 1985, when it closed due to di…srepair. A fund-raising campaign led to a restoration starting in 1997 and a reopening on Memorial Day 1999. Although the ride is quite tame by today's standards, being only 41 ft (12.5 m) in height and having an average speed of 10 mph (16 km/h), many people still ride it. Several riders report that the rear wheels of cars were once able to leave the track at the crest of some dips. At one time there was a "twin" coaster called Leap the Dips at Mounds State Park in Anderson Indiana. This ride was installed around the great mound in 1908 and visitors said at the top of the ride you could see all the way down to the river. Due to lack of business, the amusement park started selling its equipment in the early 1920's. The Leap-The-Dips is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and in 1996 was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is also an American Coaster Enthusiasts Coaster Classic and Coaster Landmark (MORE)
The oldest date of composition (when the book was first written) and the date of the oldest surviving copy are two different questions. Oldest date of composition. The Egyptian Pyramid texts are the oldest known religious texts in the world. However, they are not "books" per se, but prayers or …poetic hymns composed for the pharoah. They are dated at 2400-2300 BCE. The oldest well-known "book" (a narrative story) is probably the Epic of Gilgamesh, first composed circa 2150-2000 BCE, but revised, retold, and abridged in later centuries. Of the 4 primary Vedas, the Rig-veda is the oldest, and was first committed to writing around 1500 BCE. The biblical books of Moses, the first 5 books from the Hebrew Bible, would have been composed circa 1400 or 1200 BCE (depending on the date of the Exodus, and allowing Moses as the main author). The New Testament documents were probably composed around 50-70 CE, though some scholars would date them as late as 90 CE. Oldest surviving book. The "Pyramid texts" survive as inscriptions on the walls of pyramids and sarcophagi of pharaohs from the 5th and 6th dynasty, who lived circa 2400-2300 BCE. The oldest copy of the Epic of Gilgamesh are 12 clay tablets found in the library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh. The tablets were inscribed circa 800-700 BCE, representing a version of the Epic from 1300-1000 BCE. The oldest manuscripts of the Rig-veda known to exist date from the 11th century CE. The oldest complete manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible, containing all the canonical texts, are dated at the 9th-10th century CE, although individual books of the Bible (and fragments) were found among the Dead Sea Scolls at Qumran, generally dated around 100 BCE. The earliest New Testament manuscripts date at 350 CE, though small fragments have been found as early as 125-150 CE. (MORE)

I have read many books about oldest nations and countries. I can strongly state my option and I think that the oldest nationS according to "first map in the world" made in Babylon (just Google Babylon map if you don't belive) suggest that following countries are one of the first in Mesopotamia. … 1. BABYLON (as a country) 2. ASSYRIA (now Iran) 3.HABBAN (now Yemen) 4.ARMENIA (now Armenia) 5.Dery (no one knows what is this) 6.BIT JAKINU (no any idea) and there are 7 islands in map. This tells just Mesopotamia's countries - not in the world. It is impossible to compare this list above with China , India or Egypt ad there are no any evidence that these countries are first , because the people who made that map had no idea about rest of the world so maybe they missed out other countries. HOWEVER this map is recognised as first known map ever made. Hope this helps (MORE)

WORLD'S OLDEST BOTTLE of WINE Unearthed during excavation for building a house in a vineyard nearthe town of Speyer, Germany, it was inside one of two Roman stonesarcophaguses that were dug up. The bottle dates from approximately325 A.D. and was found in 1867. The greenish-yellow glass amphora has …handles formed in the shapeof dolphins. One of several bottles discovered, it is the only onewith the contents still preserved. The ancient liquid has much silty sediment. About one-third of thecontents are a thicker, hazy mixture. This is most probably oliveoil, which the Romans commonly used to "float" atop wine topreserve it from oxidation. Cork closures, although known to existat the time, were quite uncommon. Their oil method of preservationwas apparently effective enough to keep the wine from evaporationup to modern day. The bottle is on permanent display, along with other wineantiquities, at the Historisches Museum der Pfalz (History Museumof the Pfalz), which is worth a virtual visit or an actual one, iftraveling near the area of Speyer, Germany. 816 years is the oldest bottle, it is a Ode'Licious (Greekmethologist term for Rose wines). It was sold for $100 000 000 inan auction in 1993 To Lord Arohl Ganster of West Yorkshire.Unfortunatley he recently died (2006) and the bottle has beenpassed down to his oldest Son Sir Yert Ganster. Sanskrit is the ancient language associated with India. It is considered to be the oldest language in the world, being at least 6,000 years old, and probably much older. Sanskrit is considered to be the language of the Gods, as it is made up of the primordial sounds, and is developed systematically …to include the natural progressions of sounds as created in the human mouth. Henry David Thoreau once developed what he thought would be the perfect alphabet, and ended up creating something remarkably similar to Sanskrit. NASA and others have been looking at Sanskrit as a possible computer language since its syntax is perfect and leaves little room for error. Joseph Campbell, the late, great mythologist refered to Sanskrit as, "The great spiritual language of the world." The letters above are the vowels in Sanskrit. In total the language has 49 letters (shown at left) including vowels, consonants, semivowels, etc. and each letter has a particular vibration. Each consonant has included the vowel sound 'a' (pronounced as uh), and when the nasal sound of 'm' is added to any of the letters, it creates a bija or seed mantra which corresponds to a specific vibration of the absolute. Thus if you were to do the same with the English alphabet, you would have something like ' am bam cam dam em fam gam, etc. where the 'a' is pronounced like uh -uhm buhm cuhm duhm... The emphasis is on the resonance of the 'm' sound, which produces a resonance throughout the body as it is chanted, thus opening up various channels in the body, and creating a very open, relaxed consciousness. Because each sound corresponds to a particular aspect of the Absolute, or creation, the written alphabet is referred to as devanagari, literally the cities of the gods. Each letter is a sound which is like a particular god who manifests as that sound, for the entire creation is made up of language. Everything that we relate to we relate to in language. This is a computer, this is the sky, this is up, this is good. It is all language. It is language that creates the concepts within which we live. Sanskrit is also the language of mantra, word formulas that were discovered by the ancient sages of India as being a particular combination of sound vibrations that, when chanted or meditated upon, had a specific result on the mind, psyche, or even the natural realm. Oldest language in the world? . Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world, and mother of all Indo-European languages. Rishis discovered Sanskrit and used it to create the mantras that were made up of a combination of sound vibrations to create specific effect on the mind and the psyche, when recited. It is the language of the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, Ramayana and the Puranas. Sanskrit literature is the richest literature in the history of mankind. The Sanskrit alphabet is called 'devanagari' and literally means 'cities of the gods'. Until 1100 AD Sanskrit was without interruption the official language of the whole of India. The dominance of Sanskrit is indicated by the wealth of literature composed in the language covering every subject under the Sun. On every subject a masterpiece treatise can be found in the Sanskrit literature. The range expands from Philosophy, Religion, Science, Fine Arts, Sex, Music, Astrology, Palmistry, Astronomy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Martial Arts, and Diplomacy, just to list the few. The word Sanskrit literally means 'Perfected Language' or 'Language brought to formal perfection'. This is quite an appropriate name to describe Sanskrit, but unfortunately our convent educated secularists did not reconcile to it, till NASA declared it to be 'the only unambiguous language on the planet'. Sanskrit is a scientific and systematic language. Its grammar is perfect and has attracted scholars worldwide except regrettably in India. Well-known linguists and computer-scientists have also expressed the opinion that Sanskrit is the best language for use with computers. Development of Grammar - Panini's Ashtadhyayi Panini's Sanskrit grammar, produced in about 300 BC is the shortest and the fullest grammar in the world for its precision of statement, and for its thorough analysis of the roots of the language and of the formative principles of words. By employing an algebraic terminology it attains a sharp succinctness unrivalled in brevity. It arranges, in logical harmony, the whole phenomena, which the Sanskrit language presents. It is one of the most splendid achievements of human invention in the science of Linguistics. Panini's masterpiece Ashtadhyayi (Eight Chapters) stands out as the first scientific analysis of any alphabet. The work is the more remarkable since the author did not write it down. He worked it all out of his head. Panini's disciples committed the work to memory and in turn passed it on to their disciples. Though the Astadhayayi has long since been committed to writing, rote memorization of the work, with several of the more important commentaries, is still the approved method of studying grammar in India today. Ashtadhyayi comprises of four thousand sutras or aphoristic rules. Prior grammatical analysis is clearly evidenced by the fact that Panini himself mentions over sixty predecessors in the field. For example, the sounds represented by the letters of the alphabet had been properly arranged, vowels and diphthongs separated from mutes, semivowels, and sibilants, and the sounds had been grouped into gutturals, palatals, cerebrals, dentals, and labials. Subsequent grammarians, especially Katyayana and Patanjali, carried the work much further, and by the middle of the second century BC Sanskrit had attained a stereotyped form, which remained unaltered for centuries. The Hindu grammar taught Europeans to analyze speech forms. Ancient Indian work on grammar was objective, systematic, and brilliant than that done in Greece or Rome. Chand K Sharma. 3 hours ago . - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details . NASA declared Sanskrit to be " the only unambiguous language on the planet " Adding on to the above article ... The Sanskrit alphabet is called "devanagari" and literally means "cities of the gods". Rishis discovered Sanskrit and used it to create the mantras. These mantras were made up of a combination of sound vibrations, which when recited had a specific effect on the mind and the psyche. In the times of the Rishis, the main aim was to attain the truth, and Sanskrit - the perfect tool was found to be the best medium. Due to its specificity and purity, this seemed the best language with which to understand God's creation and as such is called "the great spiritual anguage of the world" (Joseph Campbell). Sanskrit is the common language of the Hindu Scriptures. It is the oldest language in the world. It is the language of the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata , Ramayana and the Puranas. Sanskrit literature is easily the richest. 3 hours ago. Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world, please see references below. Vedic Sanskrit is the oldest attested language of the Indo-Iranian language family. It is the language of the Vedas, the oldest Shruti texts of Hinduism, compiled over the period of the mid 4th to mid 3rd millennium BCE. It can be said that Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, Tamazight, Hebrew and Tamil are the oldest major languages which are still spoken today. Sanskrit was also suggested as the best language for use in Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence by NASA. It is the only language in the world which is scientifically precise as was discovered by the NASA scientist Rick Briggs as published in the Artificial Intelligence Magazine Rick Briggs: "As we shall see, there was a language spoken among an ancient scientific community that has a deviation of zero. This language is Sanskrit.". (MORE)

The Roman Catholic Church is the oldest continuously operating entity with an identifiable structure. Verifiably, the first pope was Linus (after Peter, anyway), who took office in AD 64 or 67, depending upon the source. The office of the papacy as the head of the church has not been left vacant sin…ce that time. I mention the Roman Catholic Church because there is dispute concerning the role of the leadership in Rome during the early church, particularly among the Orthodox. However, the Roman bishop, or pope, was unquestionably the patriarch of the western church. Thus, disputes over Peter's papacy aside, the central structure of the Roman church has existed for about 1950 years at this point. Orthodox churches cannot lay claim to this age, if only because their episcopates have been overrun at times, particularly due to Muslim conquest. More specifically, the more ancient sees that were on par with Rome (Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Constantinople), either did not exist as early as Rome (Constantinople), or disappeared before the turn of the millennium (all of the rest). No secular institution can come even close to such longevity (governmental or otherwise). The U.S. presently has the oldest continuously operating government at about 225 years, though some claim that Iceland has had a continuously operating parliament for about 1100 years. As for other religions, Hinduism, the world's oldest known religion, has no institutional structure, as such. Judaism, another of the world's oldest religions, has had its institutional structure destroyed at several points in time, notably during the Babylonian exile, and again after the Roman destruction of the temple in 67 AD. Modern Judaism is divided (as it has been for over 2000 years), and does not share a common institutional structure with its historical predecessors. (MORE)
