Put the w wire back to where you got it. Now take a volt meter and determine if you have power between R and the common terminal (usually a blue wire or the C terminal). If you have 24V there is no problem with the tstat. You now must check the condensing unit(the one outside), and check for 24V. If you have voltage, check your breaker box or the outdoor disconnect box. You cannot leave the w wire on RC. What did you do with the RED wire that was on RC?
Rheem
A good place to start would be the online website for you local newspaper. Another place you could look for a used 1.5 Rheem air conditioner is on craigslist.org.

2 ton
That isn't a typical Rheem model number, are you sure that isn't the serial? If it is the model number it is a 2.5 ton :)
Does anyone know the answer?

When purchasing a used 1.5 Rheem air conditioner, there are a few things to be aware of. One is the reputation of the seller, and whether the seller has sold such equipment in the past. Another is whether the air conditioning unit is still under warranty, and what the return policy is.
Probably your best bet for used Rheem air conditioners is on eBay. They seem to rate between $1,000 and $1,600 there. BizRate.com may help you find a discounted price on a new unit.
Rheem was created in 1927.
