Have you checked the bulb?
The flasher unit for the 2002 Chevrolet Venture is under the dash near the steering column. It looks like a thimble with three prongs.
You disconnect your battery and then reconnect your battery again.
If the brake lights do not work on Chevy Venture van 2000, try to disconnect the brake switch. Then short the two contacts of the connector to check if the brake lights are now working.

Check the panel lights resistor switch and be sure that they are not turned off.
If you call the dealership there is a recall on the rear tail lights. Something todo with the wiring in them..
it is most likely a fuse or at worst the turn signals and stop lights work through the turnsignal switch
I had this same problem with my 2003 Venture. The Cheverolet dealership told me that the cruise contol is directly linked to the brake lights. The simplest and cheapest place to start would be to check your brake lights...if they are not working, you will not have cruise control.
Your back light switch is stuck or out of adjustment. In most cases it will be located some where along the shifting linkage.
The presumption is that if you were rear ended, the other driver is at fault. The brake lights not working is a mitigating factor, but the bulk of the blame still goes with the other driver. Insurance doesn't have any relation to fault. But it coculd get you a ticket.
