"Ionic"
Ionic Bonds are only one type of chemical bonding that occurs and is not a force. Electromagnetic force is responsible for all types of chemical bonds and occurs when a positive charge comes into contact with a negative charge.
If you wanted to know what forces hold atoms to each other in substance, the answer becomes more complex. There are three major types of these intermolecular forces; Van Der Waal forces, dipole-dipole forces, and hydrogen bonding. These forces are ordered in strength.
