Victorian workers who were poor, got alot less money than rich people, they had to work in chimney's, some breathed up the soot and died some worked in factories, and some got squashed by machines! it was bad working in Victorian times, you got tones of dangerous jobs, and most got killed, but survived long enough to give their family a paying from the job.

The streets were stricken with disease and and filth. Extremely cruel discipline was used in the schools.

Jobs (eg factory work) were incredibly dangerous with no safety restrictions on compensation for accidents. Children were also put into work from age 5 and often used as chimney sweeps or cleaning machines.

Harsh laws were enacted and the authorities were harsh on anyone who committed the most minor crime.
