Theres obviously Japanese Pop, Probably the same Music genre that you listen to...

The same as you and I they listen to western music, but like every country, they have their own brand. Its called Jrock, Jpop or Visual Kei depending on what style its most like.

Visual kei is something you will only find in Japan, it is a 'style' where the band will dress in over-the-top clothes like frilly loita dresses, as men, or masses of leather. the make-up in Visual Kei is also quite ... 'unique'

Japanese listen to a wide variety of music, just like people in the west. Currently, K-pop and western pop/rap music is very popular in the charts and this is listened to by many Japanese youth. Japan has a rich modern-music history, however, quite famously with JRock and Jpop, and the notorious Visual Kei movement. There are also plenty of independent Japanese rock groups that are popular.

Of course, Japanese also enjoy western music as well, with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers even headlining Summer Sonic festival last year (2012 as of this writing).

they listen to baisically the same thing we do except for country/ bluegrass type stuff. in some places they even listen to that!!
