What paint should you use to paint your airsoft gun gold?

you can get a special plastic spraypaint designed for certain plastics at almost any hardware store or tru value. its really quite simple, dont forget to sand your gun and do a couple coats of primer before the first color coat otherwise the paint wont stick at all and it will come off on everything. believe me i know from experience. anyway you can get everything you need at a tru value, lowes or your local hardware store. good luck and good hunting.

I was surprised to learn that the inside of paint balls is not actually paint. Its a mixture of polyurethane used in cough medicine and colored chalk with some additional food products. Check out the video at (See related Link) which explains the entire paint ball manufacturer process.

There are a number of good quality paints made specifically for air-brush use.

They come in both solvent base - used most commonly for automotive application and water base - used most commonly for mural, and fine arts applications.

In each case, there are people who "swear by" and "swear at" the products.

My best suggestion is to try out the various types and brands.

Be certain to use the appropriate thinners and cleaners for each and in my experience it is a good idea not to use the same equipment with water-based as with solvent-based. your compressor is not part of that, but the air-brush itself and any feed tubes carrying paint need to be kept scrupulously clean and sometimes a bit of the cleaner will be left in the lines. This can result in spoiling a project as water and solvent just do not mix.

Also, if you work very fine or do a lot of very detailed work, be sure the pigments in your paint are finely enough processed to work with your project. I have several paintings with an unintended spatter effect that was the result of using a brand with coarser pigment.
