This is only a "WAG," but I'm thinking that what you're looking for is Romberg's operetta The Student Prince that has a "chorus of students" in it. One of the most popular songs from it is the "Drinking Song" sung by the student chorus. Hope that helps.
I believe there is also a Students Chorus in Gounod's"Faust". Possibly others as well.

It's a bit hard to tell what you mean, exactly. There are a few "soldier's Choruses" in opera. The one you are probably thinking of is from Faust... Faust also has a large fair scene, the Kermess, but the most famous "Easter" chorus is from Cavelleria Rusticana. If your choruses are both in the same opera, I'd bet on Faust for both.
As a piece of music, "chorus" would refer to something sung by a large group, perhaps the entire cast, typically including soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. This is in contrast to something sung by a soloist pr maybe two or three voices. The word "chorus" could also refer to that group of singers.
The live recordings listed for this opera note credits for 'chorus and orchestra', so yes, there is a chorus part in this opera.

Your answer depends totally on the size of the opera company. Further, it depends on whether the company includes -- or not -- the opera ballet, the opera chorus, the opera orchestra, the opera production company and crew, the administration for the company, and so forth.
