Tighten them down in a criss cross pattern. Make sure to tightem them evenly and to exactly 3 lb/ft of torque, which is not very much. More or less and they will leak. Re-check the torque after driving for 100 miles.
With the engine at operating temperature remove the valve covers. With the engine idling back off on the rocker arm nut until the rocker starts tapping. Tighten the rocker arm slowly until the noise stops. Then tighten it 3/4 of a turn more. Do each one the same and reinstall the valve covers.
100 INCH pounds.
In one of the valve covers there is an elbow with a rubber hose attached. The elbow is the PCV valve.
you just pull the three bolts holding the valve cover down. the bolts run right down the middle of the valve covers. pull the valve cover off, replace the old gasket with the new one and tighten the valve covers back on.

You need to purchase a Haynes manual that is specific to your car.
Valve covers generally leak. Replace them with rubber valve cover gaskets,, not cork. Tighten bolts finger tight with 1/4 ratchet then 1/4 tirn to tighten down.
It is sometimes a problem but not necessarily due to the material the valve covers are constructed of. Check all the bolts holding the valve covers on an tighten them to exactly 5 lb/ft of torque and no more. If that does not stop the leak, then the valve cover gaskets will need replacing. If the oil leak is very slight, I would just leave it alone, as this can be an expensive repair unless you do it yourself.
Usually you have to remove the valve covers and tighten or loosen the nuts holding the rocker arms on. there are many different orders in which to do it so consult a Chiltons or some type of manual for your vehicle.
On the top of the head/heads. The valve covers, cover the valve train.
Pull the valve covers off. loosen the rocker arms with out taking them all the way off. then you can turn the rocker arms to pull the push rods out. replace push rods, and tighten rocker arms back down and put valve covers back on
The 2002 Chevrolet PCV valve is located on the outside of the air intake housing. The valve will be on the back of the housing.
