Thee are two organs in the left lower back : a kidney is just under the bottom of the ribcage, and the descending colon (and in some people the sigmoid colon) are located in that area... These are really deep internally. If you go just above the kidney, you have the adrenal gland, the spleen, and the splenic flexure of the colon... Hope this helps.
