It depends on the time of year and the latitude. Most of the time South America would be first because it lies much farther east than North America. However, in the middle of North American summer at high latitudes, North America is first. On June 21, St.John's Newfoundland (eastmost city in North America) has sunrise about a half-hour before Pernambuco, Brazil (eastmost city in South America).
Above the Arctic Circle, there is 24-hour sunlight in summer, but nobody cares except the polar bears.
It depends on the season. During summer, for places in the northern hemisphere, such as North America -including the eastern part of it- days lasts longer than during winter. This means that dawn comes later compared to the same place in winter, or compared to a southern place in summer.
To sum up:
- During summer: Eastern South America dawns first
- During winter: Eastern North America dawns first
If you take into consideration that it is winter right now, Eastern North America will dawn first.
I hope I helped :)
North America will dawn first. Green Land will become at dawn before almost any place else.
east dawns 1st
Assuming no trick questions that include territories, and excluding portions of Alaska that are on the eastern side of the 180th meridian (albeit on the western side of the adjusted International Date Line), the point in the United States that would observe sunset first on any given day would be somewhere on the eastern coast of Maine, around Quoddy Head State Park.
An environment that supports box elder trees (Acer negundo) constitutes the habitat of the box elder bug (Boisea trivittata). The ecology therefore involves atmospheric moisture, spring-flowering and seeding trees, sunlit days, and well-drained soils and precludes overcast skies and temperatures falling below -0.4°F (-18°C).

It is from Joel Roberts Poinsett (March 2, 1779 - December 12, 1851) that poinsettia plants get their name. The name memorializes the first United States Minister to Mexico and the first known non-Mexican, non-Spanish introducer - in 1825 -- of the plant into the United States of America.
The tracks of the eastern and western parts of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States were joined on may 10 1869.
Haiti was the second, the United States was the first :P

Because there were no Western territories at that time. It was before the Louisiana Purchase.

The sun first rises on the United States at Eastport, Maine, the eastern most town in the USA.
The Sun rises in the East so Eastern Europe has Sunrise before Western Europe.
This is actually a bit of a complicated answer, because it depends on what you really mean by "in the United States." And here's why I say that: Technically, Wake Island, an unorganized, unincorporated territory of the United States is west of the International date line, and so it is 1 day ahead of what we typically think of as "the United States." Maine is the eastern most State, and Lubec is the eastern most town, making it the eastern most town in the Continental United States to see daylight. However, West Quoddy Head, which is part of Lubec, is considered the eastern most point in the Continental United States. And, of course, Point Udall in St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) is the eastern most point of all the US Territories.
Of where and of when? Ancient or modern? Eastern or western?
Along the eastern seaboard. You can also find this answer in any standard encyclopedia under United States History. There should be a list.
