nothing saves them. they save themselves, although many end up dead towards the last season. a few of the main characters leave the island on a plain that the pilot, Lupidus brought to the island. The main character Jack stays on the island to die but as he is in his last minutes he looks up and sees his friend fly away on plane 365. saved.
