That can be a very difficult situation. Before you say anything, you really do need to know for certain that they have anorexia, borderline, or some other form of an eating disorder. If they do not, and you accoust them about it, they can be really hurt and offended, as rightfully they should.

If you are 100% positive, then approach them and make sure they know that you care about them. You only want the best for them. Really, all you can do is provide support and help. Realt treatment and help needs to come from medical professionals.

What should you do if a friend has anorexia?

If a friend has anorexia, firstly do not try and make them eat. It will make them worse, if they want to eat they will. Ask your friend if they have told anybody else (if signs of their anorexia are not showing) and if they have, ask them if they had spoken to a professional about getting help and support. You really do need to push your friend into getting help. He/she will be less likely to succeed knowing that they are not getting full support from their family and friends.

What can you do to help a friend to not start anorexia?

Tell them that they'll slowly become weaker and weaker and will eventually collapse or have a heart attack and die. They got to know that Anorexia is a disease, once you reach Anorexia it's very hard to turn back. I mean once you get there, you will get help from parents and medical care, but the anorexia will be playing your mind. Just keep an eye out for them or tell their parents what your friend is wanting to do so that friend can get help immediately. I'm a recovered anorexic.

What should i do if my friend is not eating?

If your friend isn't eating, he/she may be anorexic. If this is the case, psychiatric help is needed. You can try talking to your friend and letting her/him know that they need to eat or they will die. This probably won't help, people with anorexia have deep psychological issues that they need to deal with, they and their family should receive therapy. If your friend is not eating, you should speak to his or her own parents.

How do you deal with anorexia?

Seek help from a medical professional specializing in the treatment of eating disorders in your age group. It's not as simply as "just eating." Twin studies have shown that anorexia nervosa is actually a brain disorder; it's not a psychological issue but rather a medical one. A person with anorexia should seek assistance from a medical specialist to help them cope with the illness, not a psychiatrist, counselor, or general practice doctor. Anorexia can be fatal so you should get help ASAP but make sure it's from a reputable specialist.
