Well it really depends on what position you are applying for! If you are applying for a managerial or sales position you shold wear business attire. However, if you are applying for a job as a personal trainer you should wear your nice workout clothes. Something that compliments your physique!

Appropriately and cleanly.

Absolutely no:

  • Flip flops
  • Sneakers
  • Jeans
  • T-Shirts
  • Sweatshirts
  • Anything obscene
  • Excess make-up or perfume
  • Anything revealing
  • Facial piercings
  • Large jewelry
  • Cover tattoos
  • Undergarments showing
  • Anything with holes

Blazers, dresses, suits, and skirts all work well. (Dresses and skirts obviously for females only) Wear nice and clean shoes.
You should wear a business suit in most circumstances. Very rarely will someone say, "Boy, that candidate was too dressed up for the interview." Once you have the job, you can have your dress match the level of attire at the company.
Your attire depends on the job you're interviewing for. Some places are really relaxed about what you wear. Some places want you to wear a suit. For an office job you should wear office appropriate clothing. Nice slacks, a simple button down shirt, and tie for men. Nice slacks or a knee length skirt (or longer) and nice blouse for women. Overall apperance should be neat. For a restaurant or retail they are generally a little more slack on wardrobe. Black pants (or khakis, which I don't prefer because of the inevitability of spilling or staining them on my way to an interview) and a nice top (polo, blouse, button down... whatever makes you look presentable. Men are probably safest going with a button down, but a tie isn't usually necessary. Again Overall appearance should be neat As a general rule if you aren't sure what to wear - It's always better to be overdressed than look like a slob
In the business world there is a secret meaning behind the type of clothing you wear. Red tie means love, and power and a blue tie means Loyalty and honesty. Wearing grey slacks with a white dress shirt and a red or blue tie as well as black slacks and a red or blue tie will catch the eyes of most businessmen.
For ladies a black pencil skirt or smart black pants with a crisp well ironed white blouse. Ensure the blouse is tucked in to the skirt or pants. keep jewellery simple, maybe a tidy pair of elegant earrings like some pearls for example. Team with a pair of black stilettos. If wearing the skirt, ensure the length is appropriate, either just above or below the knee. Add a tailored black jacket that is nipped in at the waist.

This look is sexy yet elegant and ladylike. Keep make up simple with a fresh look, a light foundation, some lip gloss and mascara. Tie hair back in a bun to the side or a pony tail, make sure hair is neat and shiny. Keep nails clean with no coloured nail varnish. Be confident, friendly but most of all be yourself. Don't worry and try to relax, best of luck. Babs x

The rule of thumb is to always where something at least as nice as what you would wear to work there. If you want to work in an office, and people that work there wear suits, wear a suit. Some professions, such as journalism, have looser requirements. However, just to be safe, I would reccommend wearing dressy clothing.

Dressing Right for The Interview

"Although proper dressing by itself will not get you the job, a poor dress sense may exclude you from further consideration," warns Gerry Ditching, managing partner of Filgifts.com. Besides, given two equally good applicants, the company may choose to hire the person who is dressed more professionally. Here are some tips to give you a headstart.

FOR MEN:

Long-sleeved shirt and dark slacks. White is still the safest and the best color for shirts. The colour is also appropriate for our tropical weather. Also acceptable: pale shades such as beige, blue, and other pastels.

Tuck in the shirt and do not roll up the sleeves. Never wear a short-sleeved shirt to an interview or any business purpose. Wearing a short-sleeved shirt will destroy your executive image.

Ties. Optional. But if you do wear one, choose a conservative....

FOR WOMEN:

Three-piece business suits, blouse and skirt or slacks, and cardigan twin-sets. Sleeveless shirts should be rejected. Short-sleeved blouses are okay when they are tailor-cut or have features such as a sports collar or double breast design to create a business-like look. Skirts can either be long provided it does not create a Cinderella or barn-dance look or short where it falls no shorter than two inches from the knee. Nothing too revealing, please!

Panty-hose or stockings. A must for professional grooming, but nothing with overly fussy patterns. Bring an extra pair, just in case the ones you are wearing run.

Shoes. Closed shoes or pumps......

That depends on the job you are applying for. If it is an office job or an executive job, you should dress professionally and clean-cut. Don't skimp out on showing a bit of personality, though. You can do that through your jewelry, hair style, shoes, and of course - your smile and facial expressions.

If your job application is for physical labor, you want to dress the part, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't look good or dress neat.

Probably something professional, like you'd wear to any job interview. Overdressing probably wouldn't hurt, so if you're uncertain, aim for the more formal option.
