Strictly speaking, noise is merely unwanted sound, irrespective of the loudness.

The 35 dB sound level from an air-conditioner may be noisy, whereas the 100 dB roar alongside the speedway may well be desired (and dangerous to your ears).

Yes, amplitude is the maximum height from the undisturbed position of a wave to the crest or trough of a wave. A loud sound wil have a higher amplitude than a quiet sound.

Yes. They are higher in amplitude. We perceive them as "louder",

but this has no connection with the pitch of the sound.

What will the ear perceive when the sound's amplitude is high?

A loud sound.

What does the amplitude look like for a soft sound?

Amplitude is how loud it is. So a soft sound would have a small amplitude. Frequency is the pitch of the sound. High sounds have high frequency. Wavelength is the type of sound. Music wavelengths are in harmony. Changing the wavelength gives us the different words etc that we make.

What does the amplitude of a wave depend on?

In the case of sound, amplitude is related to volume or loudness.- loud sounds generate waves of larger amplitude and your ear would register sound waves of large amplitude as louder.

What are two ways sounds can be different?

Frequency (low or high sounds) and amplitude (loudness).

What does the the amplitude look like for a loud sound?

The amplitude of a sound wave is a measure of its loudness. A loud sound will have a higher amplitude.

Are high pitched sounds loud or soft?
