I think that when it gets to be about 60 F at night, and 72 during the day. I live in the country in Mississippi, and we had several wasp nests on our house this summer, but now it's getting down to about 60 at night, and I haven't seen a single one.

Wasp is an insect. They are cold blooded animals. So they can not maintain the body temperature, like warm blooded animals. So their body temperature changes according to the surrounding temperature.

Most don't. The young mated queen wasps find a sheltered place and hibernate. The rest die as the cold weather comes.
