Some people use large amounts of hair spray, but there are special products designed just for heat protection that will work. Some examples are: Pantene Fine Hair Heat Protection & Shine Spray, Nexxus Heat Protexx Heat Protection Styling Spray, or ABBA Pure Thermal Protect Spray
Also, make sure hair is completely dry before straightening.
