Three groups? There were more than twenty-four peoples living in mainland Italy when Rome was a newcomer. In central and southern Italy was the Osco-Umbrian linguistic group which included the Umbrians, Piceni, Sabines, Marsi, Marucini, Frentani, Vestini, Samnites, Campanians and Lucanians. In Apulia (the toe of Italy) there were the Dauni Puecetii and Messapii. In Calabria (the Toe of Italy, there were the Enorti, Ausoni and Brutii. The Latins, the Falscans and the Etruscans, Aequi, Volsci and Aurunci lived in central Italy In the north there were the the Ligurians, the Gauls (thee were five groups of Gauls, the Taurini, Insubers, Centomani, Boii and Senones) and the Veneti. In the south there were also Greek settlements
These were the main groups of peoples who lived in Italy around 350 BC. There were more than likely many more smaller ethnic groups that either died out or merged with other groups.
In ancient times the Italian peninsula was inhabited by 25 ethnic groups and a larger number of subgroups.

A peninsula is not a who. It is not a person. It is land mass which sticks into a sea or lake and is surrounded by water on three of its four sides and in attached to the rest of the land mass. The Italian peninsula is Italy. Italy is a peninsula which protrudes into the Mediterranean Sea.
Etrusca is the name given to an ancient civilization in Northern Italy, so I assume you're referring to what is now called the Italian or Apennine Peninsula. The three nations on this peninsula are Italy, San Marino, and Vatican City.
The Italian Peninsula or Apennine Peninsula is one of the three large peninsulas of Southern Europe (the other two are the Iberian Peninsula and Balkan Peninsula), spanning 1,000 km (620 mi) from the Po Valley in the north to the central Mediterranean Sea in the south.

In terms of the definition of the word "peninsula" it is a broad one for the location of countries. There are three prominent ones: * Italy, on the Italian peninsula; * Spain, on the Iberian peninsula; and * Portugal, on the Iberian peninsula.
Iberian, Apennine/Italian, and the Balkan Peninsula are some examples.
