I had that happen once that our female cat went inot heat AFTER being spayed. We went back to the vet & it turned out he had not taken everything out. He proformed the second operation for free. Then everything was fine. I do TNR trap neuter return so I deal with hundreds of cats a year and so far have never had this problem in my adult life. Both of my female cats show signs of heat affection, and my boys show signs of wanting to service them, although all of them are spayed and neutered. I guess you can take out the parts but not remove the instinct. Julie

∙ 14y agoWell, it's really gross, but I was told you should put a Q-tip in the cat's vagina and sort of push and pull it in and out, to simulate the male cat's penis.
However, I tried it once with my young female cat, when she started going into heat, and it didn't work at all. It just made her howl louder.

∙ 13y agoTake your cat immediately in to see the Veterinarian who spayed her. He might have left one ovary in there, but that would be unusual. Maybe she is not coming into heat but something different? That is why you need to have the Vet check her out.

∙ 13y agoWhen my cat was spayed we weren't allowed to let it eat or drink but it could have enough water to wet it's lips. If you are not sure, contact your vet.

∙ 12y agoSome vets told me it takes some time for the hormones to get eliminated form the system. But if the strange behaviour persists, take her back to your vet.

∙ 6y agoI would take the cat to a vet, if she is still going into heat something must have been missed during her surgery and that needs to be fixed for her health
