Hi . ihave experienced 2 rabbits having babies. my first rabbit had 3, one died with bad constipation and the runs. i have now got baby bunnies which are babout 2 weeks old. it is best to leave the baby rabbits and leave the mother to nurse them. if you keep looking and touching the nest, she will abandon them, also i advice you not to touch the bunnies as the mother will smell you and realise. she will then kill them and eat them as she sees you as a threat!! i left my baby bunnies until i saw that they were coming out of the nest. i hope this helps.. if you would like to ask any more questions or any questions about my answer, i am really happy to help. thankyou for reading. :)

I'm sorry but whoever said you cannot touch baby rabbits for six weeks is completely wrong. I've never heard such a load of rubbish. I have had several litters of rabbits and have handled the babies from day one with no complications at all. As long as the mother rabbit knows and trusts you, you can touch them from the start once or twice a day. Obviously not too much, but thats just common courtesy. No one wants their newborns being manhandled on day one. They will not have 'heart attacks' if they see you when their eyes are open. I've never heard of something so funny! They will be just fine! Handling them daily will get them used to human contact and I recommend it fully. Just be gentle, wash your hands beforehand, and be respectful to the mother.

Leave them alone, make sure the mom has a nesting box and the mother will take care of them. the next day check the box and make sure there are no dead babies. Reach your hand in and the dead ones will feel cold. Remove them immediatly.

If your pet rabbit has babies you wont really need to do anything extra, but: -make sure your rabbit has plenty of food and water -be careful, as even the nicest rabbits can snap if they feel you're a threat. The mother is capable of looking after her babies alone. -lilemzy95

put in plenty of hay and take the male out of the hutch. When the babies will be arriving soon your female bunny with start plucking fur out of her tummy to reveal her teets and make it warmer for her babies. The mum should know what to do and will be fine just give her some space, don't pick her up and remember lots of hay.

Step 1: separate the male and female rabbits so that they can see and interact with each other but they can't mate again

Step 2:Provide the mother and children with a quiet place where they won't be disturbed. The perfect place would be a box in a seldom used room. The mother may have been pulling fur. All this means is that she is planning to line the nest with her fur to keep the babies warm. If she has already made the nest, just move it to the box. The mother will only nurse the babies one or two times a day, after that she will leave the nest. This is an instinct so that in the wild she is bringing no attention to her litter. This does not mean she has abandoned them.

If any of the babies seem cold or have shrunken bellies they might not be getting fed. Look to see if the babies got any milk at all. This is because in the first few days the mother feeds the babies with a substance called colostrum. This kills any foreign bacteria. If they haven't been fed at all and the mother has actually abandoned them you may have to take things into your own hands. Keep the babies warm and in a place similar to the mothers nest. If they have each other to snuggle up against that and the nest should be enough to keep them warm. If it is just one baby a hot water bottle in a towel can work.
