It is claimed but incorrect that the Holidays referred to are originally All Hallows Eve and the celebration of Guy Fawks Night (5th November) which occurs to celebrate The Gun Powder Plot when Fawks and a cohort attempted to blow up the British Parliment.
However, these two events are not classed as actual holidays. the first a a celebration of the end of summer and begining of winter which dates back to Pagan rights and were celebrated by the Celtic people of iremand Scotland Wales Cornwall in England and Brittany

∙ 8y agoThere are no actual holidays for this period - Misrepresented is the event of Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night which are historical events and occure within 7 days of eachother (Halloween 31 October and Guy Fawks Night 5 November) and not classed as holidays within the true context. Schools in the UK are frquently on Half Term Breaks but not in all areas of the country. In addition the term Holiday comes from the actual term Holy Day. The fesival of All Saints day is actually a Pagan festival and the event of Guy Fawks night or as its commonly known Bonfire Night is an annual celebration of the attempt to blow up the UK Parliment in 1605 where it is referred to as The Gunpowder Plot of 1605
